New Shows
MOP
March is the Month of Photography in Denver and there is much on view throughout the city. My work will be exhibited in eight different shows. Please consider stopping in and seeing some of the work in person. There are also a number of opening receptions connected to these shows that would be wonderful to see friends at. Much of my work on exhibit was completed in 2023 as well as some images from 2022 and past bodies of work. All these exhibitions are free and open to the public.

The Big Picture
Later in March
The Big Picture puts up large photos on outside walls throughout the city of Denver. They are b/w prints put up with wheat paste. The pasting party is scheduled for March 26th.
When I know where these images will be pasted up, I’ll post the location and some pictures here.

It is wonderful to see some of your new photo images. As I walked by the Easter display at Safeway and saw the magenta Peeps – I was thinking of your images of them . . . It was also good to see the image of Nilda Getty as we have not seen one another since the time we were at Phil Risbeck’s opening reception at the Denver Art Museum – at least 10 years ago . . . I did get to see the Tea Party exhibit out at Red Rocks. Wow, seeing all the colorful lips, peeps and blue-pink tea party happening all at once was quite an experience. Peeps, peeps and more peeps, right down to the wallpaper in the tea party itself. Such an expression of the what I would call the playful John Bonath!
I also had the pleasure of seeing the Capturing Colorado at the Four Mile Park Gallery. I loved this one for its ability to capture authentic images of these individuals. They are shown as real people, opening up, smiling or showing their inner strength in the photos, without the social stigma that may accompany their situation. I see the homelessness situation as a growing epidemic, which must be recognized before we can help find solutions. Thank you John, for bringing this to our attention in this beautiful, artful and important presentation!
